सारांश:Two types of iron oxide prepared through two simple synthesis routes (i.e. solid state method and wet solution method) were characterized and tested as adsorbents for methylene blue (MB) removal from aqueous solution. The properties of the adsorbents were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and BET surface area measurement. The adsorbents composed of iron oxide particles (hematite). Experiments were carried out to determine the adsorption capacity of the adsorbents by studying the effect of initial dye concentration (25-300 mg/L), contact time (0-24 hours) and solution temperature (30, 45 and 60⁰C) on the removal of MB dyes. However, since the obtained equilibrium data for the MB dye adsorption was not consistent for all the studied parameters, it is suggested that the iron oxide is not suitable to be used as adsorbents for MB dye removal. Therefore, the optimum results for the dye adsorption using iron oxide adsorbents is unable to be determined.
