fire safety and identify the relationship between both knowledge and practices of students at the
USM Health Campus. A cross-sectional study design was used in this study. The instrument used in
this study was online survey questionnaire and has answered by a total of 359 respondents who met
the criteria of this study. Descriptive statistics were used to explain the respondent's data and
meet the objectives of the study. Pearson Chi-square was used to test the association between
variables. The results of this study showed that most respondents (Health Science students) had a
high level of knowledge (79.7%) and a high level of practice (74.7%) about fire safety. The results
of the study showed that there was a significant association between the level of knowledge and
practices with a p value <0.05. Although this study appears to be very focused on safety, it still
has implications for the health sector to prepare for man-made disasters. Key interventions such as
workshops, seminars and fire drills should be conducted regularly according to the best practices
of disaster preparedness campaigns and are recommended to improve the results of this study.
Overall, this study is important for those in the field of safety and health practice related to
fire-related
injuries and other fire risks. |
