Description
Summary:The aim of this study is to fabricate a new material by combining hydrophobic and hydrophilic materials. Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate) has adequate flexibility for medical applications, however, its lack of hydrophilic properties limits its applications in this field. Therefore, the P(3HB-co-4HB) polymer was blended with gelatin using two different techniques; freeze-drying and electrospinning. The former technique can produce porous scaffolds by manipulating various parameters including 4HB monomer content, gelatin concentrations, and total weight of the scaffolds. The surface morphology results of the blend scaffolds at 27 mol%4HB and 50 mol%4HB have high porosity but the porosity of the blend scaffold decreased at 82 mol%4HB.
