Summary: | This report described the effect of microwave extraction parameters, such as extraction time (0, 2, 4, 6, 8 minutes), microwave power (140, 280, 420 560 and 700 watts) and extraction temperature (50, 60, 70, 80 and 90°C) on the antioxidant properties of Nephrolepis biserrata (Sw.) Schott frond (NBF) extract. The extraction was performed using a temperature controlled microwave assisted extraction (TCMAE) method in water as a solvent. The effect of an extraction parameter on antioxidant properties, in terms of total phenolic, total flavonoid and DPPH radical scavenging antioxidant activity (% inhibition and IC50), of the NBF extract was evaluated. The outcome of standardized coefficient (beta) by statistical regression analysis was showing that the extraction temperature is the most important factor as compared to microwave power and extraction time.
