description Effective humanitarian relief activities rely on how accurate the information regarding the disaster occurrence has been shared among the disaster relief team. The hectic disaster situation and absence of coordination tools have led to several problems in managing humanitarian relief effectively due to fraudulent and redundant information. This study reviews existing technologies in the humanitarian relief process and barriers embedded in the humanitarian relief information management system. Findings revealed fifteen (15) existing information management technologies in humanitarian relief and eight (8) barriers embedded in the humanitarian relief information management system. This paper also reveals several features that could be adopted to develop a high-end information management system for the humanitarian relief process.
