Summary: | Mutation testing (MT) is regarded as a gold standard way to assess test suite (TS) fault finding capability and to verify the effectiveness of software testing methodologies. However, the adoption of MT in the software industry remains uncommon due to various problems. In this systematic literature review, we investigate the recent solutions of MT problems. Our review involves a comprehensive analysis of relevant research papers published from 2017 to 2022, indexed in reputable databases such as Scopus, WoS, IEEE, and ACM. After we synthesized our findings, we identified the potential research direction which can increase the adoption of MT in the software industry.
