Description
Summary:Corridor Development is one of the governments’ steps to develop rural areas and reduce regional inequalities. The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) has been actively promoted and implemented to help develop the rural areas while improving living standards and socio-economic population of Sarawak. Various strategies implemented to ensure the objectives of SCORE are achieved. Among them is the development of five new growth nodes. Thus, the study was conducted to identify factors influencing the choice of Tanjung Manis as a new growth node in the SCORE and focus on the criteria and problems encountered during the process of development. The primary and secondary data were collected using the qualitative method of analysis. The outcomes of this study show the same general factors such as location and availability of resources. These factors have led to the selection of Tanjung Manis which is considered appropriate and strategic. Besides, there are several challenges such as financial difficulties experienced during the development process undertaken. Therefore, measures should be taken and the writer’s proposed to provide investment planning and implementation of development programs to identify for the coming year in which the result would strengthen the proposed investment and spur the development of Tanjung Manis Halal and marine sectors. Proper planning in the development of a new growth node will not only bring advantages to the public but also to facilitate the planning undertaken by state governments.
