description The purpose of this study is to investigate the application of cognitive radio in enhancing Quality of Service of WiMAX Mobile Multihop Relay network. The optimum performance of MMR WiMAX will be determined using available network simulation programme and programming language. The QoS will be measured in terms of network throughput and delay. The cognitive radio is specifically based on cooperative relay, in which connectionless approach is taken to enable bandwidth enhancement in MMR WiMAX. Transparent relay is adopted for this work, using two-hop relaying. The cooperative relay involve a refinement in MAC layer of base station, relay station and mobile station in which mobile station senses the SNR condition and under low SNR, it sends packets to more than one RS, so that the relay selection would become more dynamic and uplink bandwidth is enhanced, hence there will a significant improvement to QoS.
