description This study is focus on finding common key factors of different platforms that should be considered in cross-platform application migration; moreover it aims to give weights to each individual factor. These weights are determined through two separate surveys. The result of this study is a prototype of a tool for compatibility ratio measurement based on the source and destination platforms to help system administrators and IT managers at choosing the best and most compatible platform in migration projects. This research also investigates issues related to application porting at different layer of IS application. Results from this investigation could be very useful to system administrator in having a better understanding and analyzing application migration issues before starting a project.
