description Tidal occurrence is an interesting phenomena and stores various knowledge in which requires continuous studies. Due to the position of Peninsular Malaysia that is surrounded by water, the studies on tide is important especially in determining tidal prediction, mean sea level and chart datum. These components can be determined through tidal analysis. Among the main challenges in tidal analysis is the involvement of 18.6 years data and operational of a large matrix solution. Nevertheless, this study has successfully developed a software known as UTM-Tidal Analysis and Prediction Software (µ-TAPS) that can process data automatically. The concept used by this software is based on the harmonic method using least squares estimation. In accessing the capabilities of µ-TAPS, the results of the computational analysis and tidal prediction were compared with the Tide Tables produced by the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (DSMM), and Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) at four tidal observation stations using a minimum period of five years of data. The results of the comparison on chart datum using Indian Spring Low Water (ISLW) shows a difference of 0.011 metres to 0.089 metres whilst a comparison on chart datum using Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT) shows a difference of –0.054 metres to 0.067 metres. The percentage of difference on tidal prediction based on µ-TAPS that is less than two sigma (2s) compared to DSMM is 99.60 percent to 100 percent. Similarly, a comparison with RMN shows the percentage is 99.87 percent to 100 percent. In conclusion, the software developed can be an alternative for tidal analysis and prediction in Malaysia
