Summary:This study aims to identify the spiritual leadership of Islam among school principals in the State Religious Council Makassar. This study also identifies whether the elements of the school culture in the school environment. A total of 204 teachers from three madrassas Aliyah Negeri (MAN) in the city of Makassar, South Sulawesi Province was selected as the sample. The data in this study were analyzed using SPSS for frequency distribution and mean of each item for each characteristic practice of spiritual leadership in the school principals and school culture elements. From the analysis of the data showed that eight (8) characteristics of leadership practices spiritual has recorded the mean high, namely: (1) faith (trust) (2), piety (3) justice (4) Integrity (5) shura (6) discipline and strength moral (7) service (8) humility. All of the spiritual leadership of Islam recorded a high score of over 2,332. Madrasah cultural elements were found to occur in madrassas Council of State with a mean score of 3,96 until 4,34. Based on the findings, concluded that the practice of the spiritual leadership of Islam and Islamic culture has given great implications on the school principal’s leadership strategy to achieve success and excellence.
