Summary: | Fingerprint scanners nowadays widely deployed in numerous civilians and government applications, but do suffer spoof attacks of fake fingerprints. The most existing fake fingerprint detection approach requires either additional or high-quality sensors or complicated calculation. Extraction of minutiae is an important step which requires estimation of orientation of the lines in an image. However, the poor-quality image during acquisition, would reduce the performance of the system. Therefore, in this paper proposed to include simple image filtering to enhance the quality of fingerprint images. Through this analysis, we conclude that by applying the image enhancement many undefined or spurious minutiae be neglected and many genuine minutiae are detected.
