Summary: | Previous research shows that the successful information system (IS) application gives a significant impact on society and optimizing the business processes in an organisation. However, the adoption of IS to construct knowledge of quality assurance in higher education is still few. Hence, the objective of this research is to design an IS as an enabler in managing the quality assurance domain knowledge. We propose a web-based system called an academic quality assurance metamodel knowledge management (AQAM-KR) comprises of concepts, definitions, relationships and best practices in academic quality assurance (AQA) for higher education. It provides a comprehensive structure of AQA knowledge derived from 40 established models and framework. The collection of knowledge in AQAM-KR helps the practitioner to understand how the processes involved in AQA management at tertiary level. It also maximizes communication across AQA domain, as metamodel embedded in the system corresponds to a generic semantic domain. The system development is using model-driven approach where the collections of established models requirement are used in the system development and validation. We adopt design science approach in this research. The expert validation and case study are used to evaluate the metamodel and system. The benefits of an AQAM - KR system, helps in managing the concepts in AQA domain, systematically and give more understanding of the process as AQA contexts vary.
