Summary: | Reciting al-Quran with the proper tajwid is highly encouraged in Islam. Although studying tajwid is sunnah, the practice of reciting al-Quran with proper tajwid is farÌu ain. The majority of Muslims all over the world including Malaysia read al-Quran by following the recitation of riwāyat Imam Hafs ÙarÊq al-Shātibiyyah. Thus, it is necessary to the follower of this riwÉyat to know and understand the exact method of the riwÉyat. This study is conducted to identify the level of knowledge on the specific recitation of riwāyat Imam Hafs ÙarÊq al-Shātibiyyah among form 6 students from Sekolah Menengah Tinggi Arab Negeri Johor (Maahad Johor). This is a quantitative research and uses questionnaire survey as an instrument. The survey was conducted among 377 respondents that were selected from the form 6 students. The reliability test showed that the Croanbach Alpha value was 0.913. The data were analysed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 16.0 to obtain its frequency, percentage and mean. The Spearman correlation test was also used to examine the relationship between students knowledge on QirÉ’Ét and their knowledge on the specific recitation of Imam Hafs ÙarÊq al-Shātibiyyah. Overall, the study found that the level of knowledge among students on specific recitation of Imam Hafs ÙarÊq al-Shātibiyyah was at the high level of mean, which is 3.83 while there is no significant relationship between their level of knowledge in QirÉ’Ét and knowledge on specific recitation. Therefore, students’ high level of knowledge has no relation with students’ background. The researcher suggests that the Ministry of Education need develop a curriculum particularly on this recitation so that this recitation can be applied to all Muslim students.
