Description
Summary:Internet of Things (IoT) is a communication of physical objects that are embedded with electronic devices, software, sensors and network connectivity. IoT enables these objects to exchange and collect data between them. The number of micro-grid installation is increasing as it uses renewable sources as a part of its distributed energy sources. Micro-grid system is a flexible system as it is a group of interconnected loads and distributed energy resources that able to operate in connected and islanded mode whereby it manages to connect and disconnect from the national grid. Thus, it is also a reliable system as it can operates when the national grid goes down. Energy management system of micro-grid need to be considered and improvised to dynamically and flexibly adapt to the changes in the environment. This project proposed a smart micro-grid system by using Arduino that can connect the user loads and generations unit together. Both loads and generations units are presented using potentiometer. A proposed decision-making algorithm is developed and implemented in order to improve energy management system in micro-grid system. Additionally, a home automation technique is also equipped in this proposed system to reduce power consumption.
