Summary: | The aim of this study was to determine the decisive factors that lead airline passengers in Southern Thailand to use low-cost airlines.The subjects were 400 passengers who had chosen to fly on low-cost airlines at Surat Thani Airport.The subjects filled out a survey questionnaire with questions pertaining to demographics, purpose of travel, and reasons for choosing a low-cost airline.Results indicate that the average low-cost airline passenger at Surat Thani international airport is a single female in her 20s with a bachelor's degree and a monthly income ranges from 20,000-30,000 Thai Baht (THB).The average passenger is either a solo traveler or with companion and flew once per year.The two most decisive factors in choosing a low-cost airline were price and service.The information from this study could potentially be useful to any business in the tourism industry.
