description The purpose of this study is to examine the contribution of entrepreneurship education in enhancing the entrepreneurial capacity building of youth the in Malaysia. The study further takes a closer look at the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education program in public and private universities. The total sample of HLI is 515 students with 320 of the respondents are from Malaysia’s public universities and 195 from private universities. The hypotheses testing results indicate that risk-thinking, need for achievement and locus of control are significantly contributed towards the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education/program, whereas business plan and self-efficacy relationship with the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education/program is insignificant. The finding also reported a significant and direct relationship between industrial training and the business plan, risk-thinking, locus of control and the effectiveness of entrepreneurship program. These findings suggest that the industrial training is important in enhancing the entrepreneurial capacity and management skill among students in Malaysian Higher Learning Institutions (HLI). However, the lack of business planning and low level of self-efficacy found among students in Malaysian HLI is a major concern and it indicates that the entrepreneurship education/program need to be further improvised.
