| description | Academic research journals play a significant role in academic field. Its major function in producing, disseminating and exchanging academic knowledge in other way are important to show research performance of individual. Publication of academic papers has been considered worldwide as a criteria for appointment, hiring, promotion and tenure decisions. The current situation that require to consider publishing in high quality journal is due to the reason that it indicates appropriate information regarding the quality of an individual's research output. It is measured through the quality of academic research publications and the number of citations for specific papers as well as the total number of citations. Accordingly, it is important to study the issues regarding high impact publication of SCOPUS law journal in Asian countries. This is to enable the UUMJLS as a new SCOPUS law journal to learn and practice the good governance in publishing quality articles and the Board of Editors can enhance the quality of UUMJLS management. The objectives of the study are (i) to identify the profile of law journals in Asian countries which has been indexed by SCOPUS and WoS; (ii) to examine the citation and impact factor of law journals in Asian countries which has been indexed by SCOPUS and WoS; and (iii) to study the ranking of SCOPUS law journals in Asian countries. This is an exploratory research and qualitative research method is adopted. In gathering the research data, the survey and interview were conducted by the researcher. The Chief and Managing Editors of the SCOPUS law journals are the respondents via online survey and interview is conducted with the expert in managing the high impact publication i. e the Director of lnfometric and Citation Department, Ministry of Education, Malaysia. Further secondary data was gathered from SCOPUS and WoS database and official documents which were published and presented by the Officers of WoS and SCOPUS in two workshops known as "Editor's Day with SCOPUS and WoS". To put it briefly, the challenges in managing the high impact journal is to get and maintain the high quality of articles published by the journal. The Board of Editors must review the standard operating procedure periodically in order to maintain a good and efficient reviewing process and engaging staffs who has excellent proofreading skill. Additionally, the publisher must continuously upgrading the online publication system and maintaining a friendly website to the authors, subscribers and readers. The issue of honesty, ethical practice and focused on high quality and standard of articles publication must be practiced by the writers, editors, publisher and even by the indexing body. |
