description In the customer’s choice of product and service quality is a main driver. In a world of high level of expectation of quality by customer, the quality improvement for a product or service is highly desired. Quality improvement can be done in many ways. There is enormous tool to this. Pareto analysis, Fish bone, Statistical Process Control (SPC), FMEA, QRD are few tools which are preferred by many manufacturing organisations to achieve the desired quality level. In the garment industry quality control is practiced right from the initial stage of sourcing raw materials to the stage of final finished garment. The industry focus on quality from beginning to end covering all the process. Being mainly as an export industry, the quality expectation is kept on varying from customer to customer. The study was conducted in apparel manufacturing organisation in India and data was compared pre & post implementation. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the jacket production process is under control or statistically stable in the production process and to detect the processes capability and finally to make suggestions for improving the quality control along with the durability and reliability of the process, e.g., QDR (Quality, Durability & Reliability). Among the Statistical Process Control methods; control list, p control chart and Fish-bone diagram were used in the study, p control chart was used to test whether the production process is controlled in the enterprise.
