Exploring intraspecific variability – biochemical and morphological traits of the sugar kelp Saccharina latissima along latitudinal and salinity gradients in Europe
Published 2023-06-01“…Frond length and width, mannitol and phlorotannin contents, and molar C:N ratio showed strong intraspecific variability among S. latissima sporophytes dependent on individual local abiotic drivers. …”

Differences by origin in methylome suggest eco‐phenotypes in the kelp Saccharina latissima
Published 2023-02-01“…Our results suggest that seaweed hatchery conditions have strong effects on the methylome and, thus, putatively on the epigenetically controlled characteristics of young kelp sporophytes. However, culture origin could best explain epigenetic differences in our samples suggesting that epigenetic mechanisms contribute to local adaptation of eco‐phenotypes. …”

New ecophysiological perspectives on the kelp Macrocystis pyrifera: generating a basis for sustainability in the sub-Antarctic region
Published 2023-09-01“…Measurements of photosynthetic parameters, Fv/Fm, rETRmax, Ek and α; pigment analysis of Chl a, Chl c, and fucoxanthin; and fecundity analysis of the sporophylls of each population studied were carried out on the M. pyrifera sporophytes. Significant differences were observed between seasons, locality, and depth of blades. …”
