Profits for the future through nanotechnology by Today Malaysia, Business

    Published 2016
“…There is a metaphor referred to as "splitting hairs" when a person argues the finest (and sometimes pointless) semantics of an issue, but as I found out one evening with the erudite and articulate Dr Rezal Khairi Ahmad, splitting hairs specifically slicing and dicing a strand of hair 100,000 times is the perfect way to demonstrate to a nonscientific person the depth and breadth of nanotechnology.…”

E‐Books, e‐publishers and e‐book builders for children by Shiratuddin, Norshuhada, Landoni, Monica

    Published 2002
“…Children too can now take advantage of e‐book technology.E‐book titles for children are becoming popular as more and more e‐publishers are producing and selling children's books. This paper discusses and presents some of the latest e‐books initiatives for children.Firstly, e‐book definitions are explained in two categories: concept and devices. Then their formats, active e‐publishers and examples are outlined.Next, book builders that allow users to build books while maintaining the book metaphor are discussed with particular attention to a book builder designed specifically for children.Fifteen children participated in an evaluation to verify the ease of use of the selected book builder. An ease of use index was constructed from the addition of four variables: learning time, questions asked during learning, book building time and questions asked during building. Finally, this paper concludes that children are very much at ease with e‐book technology. They are able to use e‐books and e‐book builder without much effort.…”

Artificial immune system agent model by Che Doi, Siti Mazura, Md Norwawi, Norita

    Published 2011
“…The Artificial Immune Systems (AIS) is a biologically inspired techniques that emulates a natural system, in particular the vertebrate immune system, in order to develop computational tools for solving engineering problems.Immunity-based technique emerge as a new branch of artificial intelligence (AI).The human biological immune system has become the source of inspiration for developing intelligent problem-solving techniques. The powerful information processing capabilities of the human system, such as feature extraction, pattern extraction, learning, memory and its distributive nature provide rich metaphors for its artificial counterpart. Hence, the goal of this study is to develop an Artificial Immune System (AIS) model using agent approach for incremental learning. The main issue handled was how to integrate a multiagent system into an AIS application. This model proposed was simulated using cases for the performance measurement. The step by step activities performed in developing the agent based AIS model can be a guideline in developing an AIS application. …”
