Direct reuse of electronic plastic scraps from computer monitor and keyboard to direct stem cell growth and differentiation
Published 2022“…Specifically, the E-plastics were scavenged from discarded computer components such as light diffuser plate (polyacrylates), prismatic sheet (polyethylene terephthalate), and keyboards (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) were cleaned, sterilized, and systematically characterized to determine the identity of the plastics, chemical constituents, surface features, and leaching characteristics. Multiparametric analysis revealed that all the E-plastics could preserve stem-cell phenotype and maintain cell growth over 2 weeks, rivalling the performance of commercial tissue-culture treated plates as cell culture plastics. …”

Effect of polyvinylpyrrolidone additive in the substrate of thin-film composite forward osmosis polyvinylidene fluoride membrane on neodymium rejection
Published 2025“…Direct mining of REE from primary sources and downstream recycling process from secondary resources are infeasible due to the pollution caused by strong acid used in the cracking and leaching process. Hence, this study proposes the utilization of acid mine drainage (AMD) produced from upstream and midstream processes using forward osmosis (FO) to concentrate Nd. …”

Predicted Losses of Sulfur and Selenium in European Soils Using Machine Learning: A 2 Call for Prudent Model Interrogation and Selection
Published 2024“…Similarly, global soil selenium (Se) concentrations were predicted to drop, particularly in Europe, due to increases in leaching attributed to increases in aridity. Given its international importance in agriculture, reductions of essential elements, including S and Se, in European soils could have important impacts on nutrition and human health. …”

Promoting hydrogen-evolution activity and stability of perovskite oxides via effectively lattice doping of molybdenum
Published 2021“…We ascribe the enhanced operational stability to the formation of a low concentration of oxygen vacancy that stabilizes the crystal structure of Mo-doped SrCo0.7Fe0.3O3-δ and prevents the surface from Sr leaching/surface amorphization. These findings suggest that tuning perovskite oxide using a redox-inactive dopant featured with high valence state may provide further avenues to HER optimization.…”
