Sound art Singapore : conversation with Pete Kellock, Zul Mahmod and Mark Wong
Published 2014“…I have lived here since 2007 and felt that a “community report” should aim to probe recent history deeper than what I could possibly do on my own, in order to give a rich perspective of what is happening here today. I was very happy when Pete Kellock, Zul Mahmod and Mark Wong agreed to be interviewed. …”

ESBL and AmpC β-lactamase encoding genes in E. coli from pig and pig farm workers in Vietnam and their association with mobile genetic elements
Published 2021“…We analyzed indications of transfer of ESBL/AmpC genes between pigs and pig farmers in Vietnam by analyzing whole genome sequences of 114 ESBL/AmpC-producing E. coli isolated from the two hosts, and performed conjugation experiments and plasmid profiling to confirm that such transfer could have happened. ESBL-encoding genes detected in pigs and pig farmers included bla CTX-M-55, bla CTX-M-27, bla CTX-M-65, bla CTX-M-15, bla CTX-M-14, bla CTX-M-3, bla CTX-M-24, and bla CARB-2, and AmpC β-lactamases included bla CMY-2, bla DHA-1, and bla CMY-42. …”

Modeling affective system and episodic memory for social companions
Published 2017“…Such companions are required to display consistent personalities in interactions and remember what has happened in the past with particular users. Therefore, our research here focuses on designing the affective system and the episodic memory model, and studies how to integrate them compatibly with social companions to improve user engagement in interactions. …”

Mechanical characterization and analysis of thin-film stacked structures for microelectronic assembly
Published 2017“…However, this hard Cu material makes the wire bonding on the bond pad of an IC chip much more challenging, where excessive deformation and damage of sensitive structures underneath the bond pad could happen. Moreover, cracking normally occurs at a brittle hard dielectric layer underneath the top metallization pad, which is not visible and difficult to detect, and thus it is important to understand and predict the mechanical response of the thin-film stacked structure of the bond pad under the wire bonding process. …”

Role of mixed species microbial community biofilms in microbially influenced corrosion
Published 2018“…Initial experiments to investigate the effect of a mixed community on MIC of stainless steel (SS) in equatorial seawater, showed a strong selection for biofilm-forming microorganisms from the seawater onto the metal surface. This selection happened rapidly within 1 h and the community did not change significantly over the subsequent 7 d of the experiment. …”
