Though unassuming in presentation and subject to no previous scholarly examination, the De ebrietate is an important testament to the ways in which early medieval English attitudes to drunkenness were informed by patristic and biblical sources, and to the ways Latin sources were reworked into Old English homiletic texts via an intermediary abbreviation. …”

The simultaneity of the bone deposits, the contemporaneity of the different burial structures and the recurrence of the phenomenon lead us to believe that the site is the result of an abrupt peak in mortality. …”
