Lava flow impacts on the built environment: insights from a new global dataset by Elinor S. Meredith, Susanna F. Jenkins, Josh L. Hayes, David Lallemant, Natalia I. Deligne, Natalie R. X. Teng

    Published 2024-02-01
“…In this study, we compile and standardise lava flow impact information from previously compiled data, eruption records, and published literature to create the first comprehensive global dataset of impacts on the built environment from lava flows. We found that since the first recorded event between 5494 yr B.P. and 5387 yr B.P., lava flows from at least 155 events have impacted buildings or infrastructure (e.g., roads, electricity pylons, ski-lifts), with most (47%, n = 73) recorded as located in Europe. …”

A new approach of microbiome monitoring in the built environment: feasibility analysis of condensation capture by Jarrad T. Hampton-Marcell, Aritra Ghosh, Mohamad Jafari Gukeh, Constantine M. Megaridis

    Published 2023-06-01
“…Recently, there has been an interest in developing technology that collects naturally occurring water from the atmosphere, even within the built environment. Here, we analyze the feasibility of indoor aerosol condensation collection as a method to capture and analyze the aerobiome. …”

Influence of the built environment on taxi travel demand based on the optimal spatial analysis unit. by Yaxin Duan, Changwei Yuan, Xinhua Mao, Jiannan Zhao, Ningyuan Ma

    Published 2023-01-01
“…When discussing the influence of the built environment on taxi travel demand, few studies have considered the effect of the modifiable areal unit problem (MAUP) or the influence of the "5D" dimensions of the built environment (It refers to the consideration of the built environment from five dimensions of density, diversity, design, destination accessibility and distance to transit.) on taxi travel demand. …”
