Radio Echo Sounding (RES) investigations at Talos Dome (East Antarctica): bedrock topography and ice thickness by I. E. Tabacco, M. Frezzotti, A. Forieri, P. De Michelis, L. Cafarella, C. Bianchi, A. Zirizzotti

    Published 2003-06-01
    “…The increasing
interest in this region is due to the fact that in this area the ice accumulation is higher than in other sites in
East Antarctica. Because of this, Talos Dome could be a new site for a project of a deep ice core drilling to obtain
information on climate changes near the coast of Antarctica. …”

The triggers of the disaggregation of Voyeykov Ice Shelf (2007), Wilkes Land, East Antarctica, and its subsequent evolution by Jennifer F. Arthur, Chris R. Stokes, Stewart S. R. Jamieson, Bertie W. J. Miles, J. Rachel Carr, Amber A. Leeson

    Published 2021-10-01
“…Here, we use remote sensing of structural glaciology and ice velocity from 2001 to 2020 and analyse potential ocean-climate forcings to identify mechanisms that triggered the rapid disintegration of ~2445 km2 of ice mélange and part of the Voyeykov Ice Shelf in Wilkes Land, East Antarctica between 27 March and 28 May 2007. Results show disaggregation was pre-conditioned by weakening of the ice tongue's structural integrity and was triggered by mélange removal driven by a regional atmospheric circulation anomaly and a less extensive latent-heat polynya. …”

Paleoenvironments of a proglacial lake in Schirmacher Oasis, East Antarctica: Insights from quartz grain microtextures by Mazumder Abhijit, Govil Pawan, Kar Ratan, Gayathri Narath Meethal, Raghuram

    Published 2017-03-01
“…Eighteen sediment samples from a 36 cm long sediment core retrieved from a proglacial lake (namely P 11) situated in the Schirmacher Oasis, East Antarctica, were analysed for the study of quartz grain morphology and microtexture, along with sand percentage, to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental changes in the lake during the Holocene. …”

    Published 2019-12-01
“…In January 2019, we collected 52 individuals of 5 species of notothenioid species in Kita-no-ura cove, Lützow-Holm Bay, East Antarctica. The emerald rockcod Trematomus bernacchii was the most dominant (N=39), while the sharp-spined notothen T. pennellii was the second most common species (N=10). …”

    Published 2015-03-01
“…A Chaparral-type infrasound sensor was installed at Syowa Station (SYO; 39°E, 69°S), East Antarctica, as one of the projects of the International Polar Year (IPY2007‒2008). …”

Utilization of an NNSS receiver in the explosion seismic experiments on the Prince Olav Coast, East Antarctica 2. Positioning by Kazuo Shibuya, Kiyoshi Ito, Katsutada Kaminuma

    Published 1982-09-01
“…Performance tests of a one-wave (400MHz) NNSS receiver and a two-wave (150 MHz and 400 MHz) NNSS receiver were made at Syowa Station, East Antarctica. The two-dimensional positioning by a one-wave receiver scattered with the standard deviation of about 200m from the mean position determined by many passes. …”

Chronostratigraphy of the Larsen blue-ice area in northern Victoria Land, East Antarctica, and its implications for paleoclimate by G. Lee, J. Ahn, H. Ju, F. Ritterbusch, I. Oyabu, C. Buizert, S. Kim, J. Moon, S. Ghosh, K. Kawamura, K. Kawamura, K. Kawamura, Z.-T. Lu, S. Hong, C. H. Han, S. D. Hur, W. Jiang, G.-M. Yang

    Published 2022-06-01
“…Here, we report on a surface transect of ice with an undisturbed horizontal stratigraphy from the Larsen BIA, northern Victoria Land, East Antarctica. Ice layers defined by dust bands and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys indicate a monotonic increase in age along the ice flow direction on the downstream side, while the upstream ice exhibits a potential repetition of ages on scales of tens of meters, which result from a complicated fold structure. …”

Investigating Algal Communities in Lacustrine and Hydro-Terrestrial Environments of East Antarctica Using Deep Amplicon Sequencing by Yuu Hirose, Takuhei Shiozaki, Masahiro Otani, Sakae Kudoh, Satoshi Imura, Toshihiko Eki, Naomi Harada

    Published 2020-03-01
“…In this study, we collected diverse algal samples in lacustrine and hydro-terrestrial environments of Langhovde and Skarvsnes, which are two ice-free regions in East Antarctica. We performed deep amplicon sequencing of both 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) and 18S rRNA genes, and we explored the distribution of sequence variants (SVs) of these genes at single nucleotide difference resolution. …”
