Assessing students’ performance in software requirements engineering education using scoring rubrics
Published 2017“…The study investigates how helpful the use of scoring rubrics is, in the performance assessment of software requirements engineering students and whether its use can lead to students’ performance improvement in the development of software requirements artifacts and models.Scoring rubrics were used by two instructors to assess the cognitive performance of a student in the design and development of software requirements artifacts. The study results indicate that the use of scoring rubrics is very helpful in objectively assessing the performance of software requirements or software engineering students.Furthermore, the results revealed that the use of scoring rubrics can also produce a good achievement assessments direction showing whether a student is either improving or not in a repeated or iterative assessment. In a nutshell, its use leads to the performance improvement of students. The results provided some insights for further investigation and will be beneficial to researchers, requirements engineers, system designers, developers and project managers.…”

Fuzzy C-Means with Improved Chebyshev Distance for Multi-Labelled Data
Published 2018“…Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) is one of the most well-known clustering algorithms, nevertheless its performance has been limited by the utilization of Euclidean as its distance metric.Even though there exist studies that applied FCM with other distance metrics such as Manhattan, Minkowski and Chebyshev, its performance can still be argued particularly on multi-label data.Various applications rely on data points that can be grouped into more than one class and this includes protein function classification and image annotation. This study proposes the employment of FCM that is implement using an improved Chebyshev distance metric. The proposed work eliminates correlation in data points and improve performance of clustering. The results show that the proposed FCM improves the performance of clustering as it produces minimum objective function value and with less iteration count. Such a result indicates that FCM with improved distance metric contributes in producing better clusters.…”

A nonlinear heuristic modifier for constructing examination timetable
Published 2017“…This research focuses on solving an examination timetabling problem by constructing solution using nonlinear heuristic modifier of Graph Coloring Heuristics. Two graph coloring heuristics i.e. largest degree and saturation degree were used within the nonlinear heuristic modifier to generate difficulty value of each examination, where it was modified non linearly whenever an examination cannot be scheduled in the previous iteration. Next, new ordering of examinations was obtained based on the new difficulty values and each examination was scheduled until a complete timetable is obtained. …”
