Cortical auditory temporal processing abilities in elderly listeners by Aseel Al-Meqbel, Catherine McMahon

    Published 2015-10-01
“…Cortical auditory evoked potentials (CAEPs) were elicited by three temporal paradigms presented in the sound field at 65 dBSPL: (1) naturally produced stop consonant-vowel (CV) syllables /da/-/ta/ and /ba/-/pa/; (2) speech-in-noise stimuli using the speech sound /da/with varying signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs); and (3) 16 Hz amplitude-modulated (AM) BBN presented in two conditions: (i) alone (representing a temporally modulated stimulus) and (ii) following an unmodulated BBN (representing a temporal change in the stimulus) using four modulation depths. Results: Findings demonstrated a statistically significant mean difference in n1 latency (p<0.05) between normally hearing elderly and young adult listeners in all paradigms. …”

MANTLE GRAVITY ANOMALY AND RECENT ACTIVATION IN THE TERRITORY OF UKRAINE by Gordienko V.V.

    Published 2022-03-01
“…For this, it is necessary to improve the methodology for calculating the effect of the earth’s crust, supplementing it with taking into account the degree of catagenesis of part of the rocks of the sedimentary layer, the effect of increased concentrations of ore minerals in the depths of regional magnetic anomalies, etc. Thus, a more accurate calculation of the effect along the DSS profiles can be achieved. …”

Fish habitat restoration on the basis of water morphology simulation by Xiaolong Chen, Xuan Che, Xingguo Liu, Lin Zhu, Changfeng Tian, Xinfeng Li

    Published 2022-08-01
“…The eddy became more diversified and stable, with a high eddy viscosity coefficient and less fluctuations, at 9 Pa·s; this was conducive to fish aggregation and spawning. At different depths, large gradient differences were observed between the inner and outer sides of the longitudinal diversion dam, and the turbulent current and upward flow of the inner side were obvious; this was more favorable to the aggregation of different fish species. …”

Near-surface magma flow instability drives cyclic lava fountaining at Fagradalsfjall, Iceland by Samuel Scott, Melissa Pfeffer, Clive Oppenheimer, Enikö Bali, Oliver D. Lamb, Talfan Barnie, Andrew W. Woods, Rikey Kjartansdóttir, Andri Stefánsson

    Published 2023-11-01
“…The observed proportions of major and minor gas molecular species (including H2O, CO2, SO2, HCl, HF and CO) reveal a stage of CO2 degassing in the upper crust during magma ascent, followed by further gas-liquid separation at very shallow depths (~100 m). We explain the pulsatory lava fountaining as the result of pressure cycles within a shallow magma-filled cavity. …”
