Mapping China’s Forest Fire Risks with Machine Learning by Yakui Shao, Zhongke Feng, Linhao Sun, Xuanhan Yang, Yudong Li, Bo Xu, Yuan Chen

Published 2022-05-01
“…The results show evident seasonal and regional differences in the Chinese forest-fire risks; forest-fire risks are relativity high in the spring and winter, but low in fall and summer, and the areas with high regional fire risk are mainly in the provinces of Yunnan (including the cities of Qujing, Lijiang, and Yuxi), Guangdong (including the cities of Shaoguan, Huizhou, and Qingyuan), and Fujian (including the cities of Nanping and Sanming). The major contributions of this study are to (i) provide a framework for large-scale forest-fire risk prediction having a low cost, high precision, and ease of operation, and (ii) improve the understanding of forest-fire risks in China.…”

Satellite Remote Sensing Identification of Discolored Standing Trees for Pine Wilt Disease Based on Semi-Supervised Deep Learning by Jiahao Wang, Junhao Zhao, Hong Sun, Xiao Lu, Jixia Huang, Shaohua Wang, Guofei Fang

Published 2022-11-01
“…Aimed at the characteristics of Gaofen-2 images and discolored standing trees with PWD, this paper adopts three strategies—swelling prediction, raster vectorization, and forest floor mask extraction—to optimize the image identification process and results and conducts an application demonstration study in Nanping city, Fujian Province. The results show that among the three semantic segmentation models, HRNet was the optimal conventional semantic segmentation model for identifying discolored standing trees of PWD based on Gaofen-2 images and that its MIoU value was 68.36%. …”

Assessment on the Spatial Distribution Suitability of Ethnic Minority Villages in Fujian Province Based on GeoDetector and AHP Method by Xiang Xu, Paolo Vincenzo Genovese

Published 2022-09-01
“…The unsuitable areas are mostly in Fujian’s north and west. (3) The most suitable cities for the number of ethnic minority villages are Ningde City and Quanzhou City because ethnic minority villages in these two cities are mostly distributed in areas relatively close to the central urban area, with good economic conditions, flat terrain, and easy transportation. The cities of Nanping and Sanming are the least suitable for many ethnic minority villages, which are primarily limited by topographic conditions, have a backward economy, a sparse road network, and have experienced significant population loss. …”

“…flavicarpa) passion fruit were collected at five developmental stages (i.e., fruitlet, green, veraison, maturation, and ripening stage) from an orchard located at Nanping, Fujian, China. The contents of flavonoid, anthocyanin, proanthocyanin, and their metabolites were determined using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS), activities of key enzymes involved in flavonoid metabolism were measured, and expression profiling of related genes was done using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). …”

Upper crustal velocity and seismogenic environment of the M7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake region in Sichuan, China by DaHu Li, ZhiFeng Ding, Yan Zhan, PingPing Wu, LiJun Chang, XiangYu Sun

Published 2021-07-01
“…The 3D P-wave velocity structure also suggests that the crustal low-velocity layer of northeastern SGB (Songpan–Garzê Block) stretches into MSM (Minshan Mountain), and migrates to the northeast, but the tendency to emerge as a shallow layer is impeded by the high-velocity zone of Nanping Nappe tectonics and the Bikou Block. Our results reveal an uneven distribution of high- and low-velocity structures around the Tazang segment of the East Kunlun fault zone. …”
