Preparations for a search of the muon EDM at PSI by Schmidt-Wellenburg P., Calzolaio C., Doinaki A., Dutsov C., Giovannozzi M., Hume T., Trillaud F.

    Published 2023-01-01
“…The most sensitive muEDM search to date provides an upper limit of 1.8 × 10−19 e cm (CL 95%), extracted from high-precision data collected to measure the muon AMM. At the Paul Scherrer Institute, we are setting up a dedicated search for the muEDM using, for the first time, the frozen-spin technique to target an ultimate sensitivity better than 6 × 10−23 e cm. …”

The non-destructive investigation of a late antique knob bow fibula (Bügelknopffibel) from Kaiseraugst/CH using Muon Induced X-ray Emission (MIXE) by Sayani Biswas, Isabel Megatli-Niebel, Lilian Raselli, Ronald Simke, Thomas Elias Cocolios, Nilesh Deokar, Matthias Elender, Lars Gerchow, Herbert Hess, Rustem Khasanov, Andreas Knecht, Hubertus Luetkens, Kazuhiko Ninomiya, Angela Papa, Thomas Prokscha, Peter Reiter, Akira Sato, Nathal Severijns, Toni Shiroka, Michael Seidlitz, Stergiani Marina Vogiatzi, Chennan Wang, Frederik Wauters, Nigel Warr, Alex Amato

    Published 2023-03-01
“…This was analyzed for the first time for its elemental composition by using the non-destructive technique of Muon Induced X-ray Emission (MIXE) in the continuous muon beam facility at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). In the present work, the detection limit is 0.4 wt% with $$\sim$$ ∼ 1.5 hours of measurement time. …”

Study of thulium-167 cyclotron production: a potential medically-relevant radionuclide by Edoardo Renaldin, Edoardo Renaldin, Gaia Dellepiane, Saverio Braccini, Alexander Sommerhalder, Hui Zhang, Nicholas P. van der Meulen, Nicholas P. van der Meulen, Robert Eichler, Robert Eichler, Zeynep Talip

    Published 2023-10-01
“…Thulium-167 production yield was also measured irradiating five different target materials (167Er2O3, 168Er2O3, natTm2O3, natYb2O3, 171Yb2O3) with proton beams up to 63 MeV at the Injector II cyclotron of Paul Scherrer Institute. Results and Discussion: Our experiments showed that an 8-h irradiation of enriched ytterbium-171 oxide produced about 420 MBq of thulium-167 with a radionuclidic purity of 99.95% after 5 days of cooling time with a proton beam of about 53 MeV. …”
