Evaluation of a Flexible Single Ice Microphysics and a Gaussian Probability-Density-Function Macrophysics Scheme in a Single Column Model
Published 2021-05-01“…A single-ice (SI) microphysics scheme and Gaussian probability-density-function (Gauss-PDF) macrophysics scheme were implemented in the single-column Global-to-Regional Integrated forecast System model (SGRIST) and they were tested using the Tropical Warm Pool-International Cloud Experiment (TWP-ICE) and the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Southern Great Plains Experiment in 1997 (ARM97). Their performance was evaluated against observations and other reference schemes. …”

Analysis algorithm for sky type and ice halo recognition in all-sky images
Published 2019-08-01“…We present test results on halo observations and photographic sky type for the first 4 months of the year 2018, for TSI images obtained at the Southern Great Plains (SGP) ARM site. A detailed comparison of visual and algorithm scores for the month of March 2018 shows that the algorithm is about 90 % reliable in discriminating the four photographic sky types and identifies 86 % of all visual halos correctly. …”

Population genetic structure of Texas horned lizards: implications for reintroduction and captive breeding
Published 2019-10-01“…The Texas horned lizard (Phrynosoma cornutum) inhabits much of the southern Great Plains of North America. Since the 1950s, this species has been extirpated from much of its eastern range and has suffered declines and local extinctions elsewhere, primarily due to habitat loss. …”

An Investigation of the Ice Cloud Detection Sensitivity of Cloud Radars Using the Raman Lidar at the ARM SGP Site
Published 2022-07-01“…The ice cloud detection sensitivity of the millimeter cloud radar (MMCR) and the Ka-band Zenith radar (KAZR) is investigated using a collocated Raman lidar (RL) at the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program Southern Great Plains site. Only profiles that are transparent to the RL with ice clouds only are considered in this study. …”

Published 2011-11-01“…The predictions of the parameterisations were also tested against data from the Southern Great Plains, Oklahoma, USA. The observed ERH and DRH values for both the chamber and field data agreed within 5% RH with the values predicted by the parameterisations using the measured org:sulf and O:C ratios as the input variables.…”

How quickly do cloud droplets form on atmospheric particles?
Published 2008-02-01“…We measured the rate of cloud droplet formation on atmospheric particles sampled at four sites across the United States during the summer of 2006: Great Smoky Mountain National Park, TN; Bondville, IL; Houston, TX; and the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program Southern Great Plains site near Lamont, OK. We express droplet growth rates with the mass accommodation coefficient (α), and report values of α measured in the field normalized to the mean α measured for lab-generated ammonium sulfate (AS) particles (i.e., α'=α/αAS). …”
