Magnetoelectricity in two-dimensional materials
Published 2022-12-01“…For the purpose of this discussion, the image-charge method familiar from electrostatics is extended to solve the boundary-value problem for a magnetoelectric medium in the finite-width slab geometry using image dyons, i.e. point objects having both electric and magnetic charges. …”

Theory of oblique topological insulators
Published 2023-02-01“…Oblique TIs arise when dyons—bound states of electric charges and monopoles—condense, leading to FTI phases characterized by topological order, emergent one-form symmetries, and gapped boundary states not realizable in 2+1-D alone. …”

Quantum black hole entropy, localization and the stringy exclusion principle
Published 2018-09-01“…Our method breaks down precisely when mock-modular effects are expected in the entropy of one-quarter BPS dyons and we comment upon this. Furthermore, we mention possible applications of these results, including an exact formula for the entropy of four dimensional N=2 $$ \mathcal{N}=2 $$ black holes.…”

Magnetic monopoles with no strings attached: a portal to the dark side of dual electrodynamics
Published 2023-02-01“…This generalised Lorentz force involves a single real and new coupling constant of unknown value, without the requirement of a Dirac–Schwinger–Zwanziger quantisation condition for electric and magnetic charges of dyons. A physical consequence for SO(2) dual electrodynamics of this coupling constant if nonvanishing, is to open a channel, or portal between the otherwise mutually totally “dark” sectors of electric and magnetic charges for electromagnetic interactions.…”
