Multi-Wavelength Observations of the Radio Magnetar Psr J1622-4950 and Discovery of Its Possibly Associated Supernova Remnant by Chakrabarty, Deepto

    Published 2013
“…We present multi-wavelength observations of the radio magnetar PSR J1622-4950 and its environment. Observations of PSR J1622-4950 with Chandra (in 2007 and 2009) and XMM (in 2011) show that the X-ray flux of PSR J1622-4950 has decreased by a factor of ~50 over 3.7 years, decaying exponentially with a characteristic time of τ = 360 ± 11 days. …”

Can Fallback Accretion on the Magnetar Model Power the X-Ray Flares Simultaneously Observed with Gamma Rays of Gamma-Ray Bursts? by Wen-Yuan Yu, Hou-Jun Lü, Xing Yang, Lin Lan, Zhe Yang

    Published 2024-01-01
“…The prompt emission, X-ray plateau, and X-ray flares of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are thought to be from internal dissipation, and the magnetar as the central engine with propeller fallback accretion is proposed to interpret the observed phenomena of GRBs. …”

“…This high-flux state, together with a radio-derived rotational ephemeris, enabled for the first time the detection of X-ray pulsations for this magnetar. At 5%, the 0.3-6 keV pulsed fraction is comparable to the smallest observed for magnetars. …”

Propagation of a Realistic Magnetar Jet through a Binary Neutron Star Merger Medium and Implications for Short Gamma-Ray Bursts by Gustavo Soares, Pablo Bosch, Davide Lazzati, Philipp Mösta

    Published 2023-01-01
“…This remnant can be either a black hole or a highly magnetized, fast-spinning neutron star, also known as a magnetar. Here we present the results of two relativistic magnetohydrodynamical simulations aimed at investigating the large-scale dynamics and propagation of magnetar collimated outflows through the medium surrounding the remnant. …”
