Influence of Hydrogen Peroxide on Mineralization in Dental Pulp Cells: A Systematic Review by Alexandre Henrique dos Reis-Prado, Isadora Rodrigues Grossi, Hebertt Gonzaga dos Santos Chaves, Carolina Bosso André, Luís Fernando dos Santos Alves Morgan, André Luiz Fraga Briso, Luciano Tavares Angelo Cintra, Francine Benetti

    Published 2021-07-01
“…Of those three studies that investigated other mineralization markers, two found a reduction in the expression of dentin matrix acidic phosphoprotein (DMP)-1, dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP), and matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein (MEPE) among some bleaching gel concentrations. In contrast, one study showed a greater expression of osteopontin (OPN) and osteocalcin (OCN) in 100 μmol/L HP after 5 or 10 min of exposure, and another study showed significant induction of DSPP in concentrations of up to 0.5 mmol/L HP.Conclusion: Especially, high concentrations of bleaching gel reduce the potential of mineralization in pulp cells in in vitro studies; however, different HP concentrations, bleaching protocols, and analysis periods can influence this outcome.…”

A Delphinidin-Enriched Maqui Berry Extract Improves Bone Metabolism and Protects against Bone Loss in Osteopenic Mouse Models by Masahiro Nagaoka, Toyonobu Maeda, Masahiro Chatani, Kazuaki Handa, Tomoyuki Yamakawa, Shuichi Kiyohara, Takako Negishi-Koga, Yasumasa Kato, Masamichi Takami, Shumpei Niida, Stefanie C. Lang, Marlena C. Kruger, Keiko Suzuki

    Published 2019-09-01
“…MBE stimulated the osteoblastic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 cells, as indicated by enhanced mineralized nodule formation, and increased alkaline phosphatase activity, through the upregulation of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (<i>Bmp2</i>), runt-related transcription factor 2 (<i>Runx2</i>), Osterix (<i>Osx</i>), osteocalcin (<i>Ocn</i>), and matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein (<i>Mepe</i>) mRNA expression. Immunostaining and immunoprecipitation assays demonstrated that MBE suppressed NF-κB transnucleation through acting as a superoxide anion/peroxynitrite scavenger in MC3T3-E1 cells. …”
