Meteorite Kr in Earth's mantle suggests a late accretionary source for the atmosphere. by Holland, G, Cassidy, M, Ballentine, C

    Published 2009
“…Here, we report the discovery of primordial Kr in samples derived from Earth's mantle and show it to be consistent with a meteorite or fractionated solar nebula source. The high-precision Kr and Xe isotope data together suggest that Earth's interior acquired its volatiles from accretionary material similar to average carbonaceous chondrites and that the noble gases in Earth's atmosphere and oceans are dominantly derived from later volatile capture rather than impact degassing or outgassing of the solid Earth during its main accretionary stage.…”

    THE YOUNGEST KNOWN X-RAY BINARY: CIRCINUS X-1 AND ITS NATAL SUPERNOVA REMNANT by Heinz, Sebastian, Sell, P., Fender, R. P., Jonker, P. G., Brandt, W. N., Calvelo-Santos, D. E., Tzioumis, A. K., Nowak, Michael A., Schulz, Norbert S., Wijnands, R., van der Klis, M.

    Published 2015
“…Circinus X-1 is a microquasar, creating relativistic jets that were thought to power the arcminute-scale radio nebula surrounding the source. Instead, this nebula can now be attributed to non-thermal synchrotron emission from the forward shock of the supernova remnant. …”

    Published 2003
“…This can explain most of the major anomalies of the progenitor, its blue colour, the main chemical anomalies in the envelope and the inner ring of the triple-ring nebula: Our simulations suggest that the core of the progenitor should have been rapidly rotating at the time of the explosion which may have affected the explosion and may be responsible for some of the observed asymmetries in the ejecta.…”
