Estimating relative abundance of tree species in tropical rainforest using remotely sensed data by Hassan, Noordyana

Published 2013
“…Mixed pixel occurrence in remote sensing imagery is a main source of problems in classifying ground features, especially when dealing with complex ecosystems such as tropical rainforest areas due to its high diversity of tree species. …”

Carbon sequestration model of tropical rainforest ecosystem using satellite remote sensing data by Rasib, Abd. Wahid

Published 2014
“…Various measurements methods have been used to determine the validity of the information produced for carbon sequestration especially in tropical rainforests. Generally, these methods can be divided into two major categories which are the micrometeorological and biometric approaches. …”

Assessment of management effectiveness at Belum Rainforest Resort (BRR), Malaysia; with special focus on process by Hassan, Mohamad Ghozali, Abdullah, Shahmir Sivaraj, Abdullah, Rohani

Published 2013
“…Presently, most of the countries in the world are concerned about environmental degradation. One of the avenues to protect the environment is the active promotion of ecotourism which shows a growing niche market within the big travel industries and possesses the potential of being an important sustainable developmental tool.Of all the acitivities conducted by the management of ecotourism, process of development and management are found lacking, and this has a great impact on the intention of creating and developing ecotourism in a country. The absence of proper process of management in ecotourism calls for the implementation process in ecotourism which is crucial in developing ecotourism, particularly in Belum Rainforest Resort in Malaysia. Moreover, the research made use of qualitative research approach involving the use of secondary data that relate to the process of assessing management effectively. The result showed that process determines whether or not the best systems and processes for management are in use.Consequently,well-planned protected areas need sound management processes if they are to be effective.…”

Conservation Status of Brachycephalus Toadlets (Anura: Brachycephalidae) from the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest by Marcos R. Bornschein, Marcio R. Pie, Larissa Teixeira

Published 2019-08-01
“…Most of these new species inhabit hotspots and are under threat of habitat loss, such as Brachycephalus, a genus of small toadlets that inhabits the litter of the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest. Of 36 known species, 22 were described in the last decade, but only 11 have been assessed according to the IUCN Red List categories, with just one currently listed as Critically Endangered. …”

Ecological Strategy Spectra for Communities of Different Successional Stages in the Tropical Lowland Rainforest of Hainan Island by Chen Chen, Yabo Wen, Tengyue Ji, Hongxia Zhao, Runguo Zang, Xinghui Lu

Published 2022-06-01
“…In this study, 12 forest dynamics plots in three different successional stages were selected for study in the tropical lowland rainforest ecosystem of Hainan Island. For each plot, using Grime’s competitor, a stress-tolerator, the ruderal (CSR) scheme and using the CSR ratio tool “StrateFy”, an ecological strategy spectrum was constructed using functional trait data obtained by collecting leaf samples from all woody species. …”
