    “…It is also a business strategies that are not primarily driven by profit maximization but by the need to add value to society at large because is framed or formed as part of the society and not separate from it.The main objective of this study is to assess the environmental effects contributed by Shell Corporation in Niger Delta Nigeria.The variables examined were environmental issue and corporate social responsibility.A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed to the respondents in Nembe and Ogoni land communities in Niger Delta Nigeria.The results found that Shell are not really investing so much resources to protect the environment which has adverse effects to the people such as loss farm lands and animal habitat, land degradation, river pollution and deforestation due to oil spillage.According to cross tabulation and mean results, river and gas flaring are found to be the most affected due to the Shell oil extraction.Instead of proper protection of local environment which is the major problem of local people in the area and Shell is much interested in making profit instead of environmental protection and creating conducive social political atmosphere in delivering CSR in Niger Delta Nigeria.…”
