Cross-cultural similarities and differences of social touch : a literature review
Published 2019“…However, current literature has yet to provide conclusive answers, partly due to fewer studies examining this psychological phenomenon than well-understood ones (e.g., facial expressions). Could biological mechanisms explain for psychological phenomenon of social touch, or could a more complex cultural perspective provide a better understanding? …”

From demonetisation to Covid-19: Insights on the dynamics between informality and financial inclusion from the city of Kolkata, India
Published 2022“…

Empirical research finds that while Demonetisation and Covid-19 managed to reduce some forms of financial informality associated with the use of cash in saving, payment, and borrowing through their catalytic effects on digitalisation, other informal financial practices persisted or even increased, serving as substitutes for or supplements to insufficient and dysfunctional formal ones. There also persisted economic and urban informality, intersecting social inequalities, and systemic failures as barriers to broad-based financial inclusion. …”

Rediscovering Homo sapiens in international politics: evolution and rationality’s missing link
Published 2025“…An evolutionary perspective suggests: (1) rational choice is not always the most effective or efficient solution to decision-making problems; (2) cognitive biases are not mistakes, but adaptive “strategic instincts,” which evolved because they helped us make good decisions, not bad ones; (3) these “non-rational” dispositions follow a systematic pattern, allowing predictions about how people are likely to react under given conditions; (4) a theory for the origins of preferences; (5) an explanation for why humans can sometimes seem rational and sometimes non-rational (because adaptive behavior depends on context); and finally (6) error management theory suggests that cognitive biases evolved precisely because of uncertainty, as a way of minimizing costs over time. …”

A multimodal neural signature of face processing in autism within the fusiform gyrus
Published 2025“…Multimodal components outperformed unimodal ones in differentiating groups. In autistic individuals, multimodal components were associated with cognitive and clinical features linked to social, but not nonsocial, functioning. …”

Assessing serial recall as a measure of artificial grammar learning
Published 2024“…Previous research has shown that when sequences of phonemes can be chunked into ‘words’, participants are better able to recall these sequences than random ones. Here, in two experiments, we investigated whether serial visual recall could be used to effectively measure the learning of a more complex artificial grammar that is designed to emulate the between-word relationships found in language. …”

Adaptive social networks promote the wisdom of crowds
Published 2021“…Social networks continuously change as new ties are created and existing ones fade. It is widely acknowledged that our social embedding has a substantial impact on what information we receive and how we form beliefs and make decisions. …”

Uncertainty Quantification of Spatiotemporal Travel Demand With Probabilistic Graph Neural Networks
Published 2024“…We found that the probabilistic assumptions (e.g. distribution tail, support) have a greater impact on uncertainty prediction than the deterministic ones (e.g. deep modules, depth). Among the family of Prob-GNNs, the GNNs with truncated Gaussian and Laplace distributions achieve the highest performance in transit and ridesharing data. …”

From Opinion Dynamics to Collective Action: How Identity-Based Tolerance Leads to Political Extremism
Published 2024“…Current sociological theories attribute the recent surge in political extremism to mechanisms of opinion “homophily” (i.e., like-minded individuals interact more while dissimilar ones might distance) and “assimilation (i.e., interactions homogenize opinions),” which collectively suggest a social world dominated by extreme views. …”

Raman spectroscopic study of the effects of dissolved NaCl and temperature on water structure
Published 2013“…When in liquid state, there exist various local hydrogen-bond networks through which the water molecule interacts with its neighboring ones. Although the peak values of FT-IR Spectroscopies of water under different temperatures shows the consistent movement trend with NaCl solutions, the theory behind is quite different. …”

A phenomenology of kenosis: Jean-Luc Nancy after the theological turn
Published 2020“…Moreover, I argue, an accurate understanding of the theological terms (revelation and incarnation) would itself indicate their divergence from the philosophical ones (givenness and embodiment). In short, only by turning to theology, can phenomenology come into its own as philosophy: by exploring the theological dimension, we can correct phenomenology’s structural theological inclination; only by passing through the theological, can phenomenology be de-theologised.…”
