Arsenene nanoribbon edge-resolved strong magnetism
Published 2020“…We proposed a mechanism to induce strong magnetism of up to 10.92 emu g-1 in hexagonal-phase arsenene nanoribbon (AsNR) from the perspective of edge quantum entrapment. Consistency between bond-order-length-strength correlation (BOLS) theory and density functional theory (DFT) calculations verified that: (i) the edge bond contraction of 9.54% deepened the edge potential well of AsNR, (ii) a net charge of 0.06 e- transferred from the inner region to the edge; and (iii) the edge quantum well polarized the unpaired electron and the net spin (antiferromagnetic or ferromagnetic depending on the width) is localized at the zigzag edge. …”

Triggered release from thermoresponsive polymersomes with superparamagnetic membranes
Published 2018“…Magnetic heating of the embedded SPIONs led to increased bilayer permeability through dehydration of the thermoresponsive PNIPAM block. The entrapped calcein could therefore be released in controlled doses solely through exposure to pulses of an alternating magnetic field. …”

Curing kinetics of epoxies by thermal and alternative radiation in the application of fibre-reinforced composites
Published 2011“…Therefore, the removal of the gel time constraints could lead to improved laminate quality; for example, there is more time for precise fibre placement and orientation, complete fibre wetting and the removal of entrapped air. The aim of this project is to study the feasibility of employing radiation curing in the fabrication of glass fibre reinforced composites using epoxy based matrices. …”

An elastomer with ultrahigh strain-induced crystallization
Published 2024“…However, the crystallinity induced by mechanical stretching in common elastomers (e.g., natural rubber) is typically below 20%, and the stretchability plateaus due to trapped entanglements. We report a class of elastomers formed by end-linking and then deswelling star polymers with low defects and no trapped entanglements, which achieve strain-induced crystallinity of up to 50%. …”
