Insights from coral microatolls into sea-level variability and subduction zone behavior by Sarkawi, Gina Muthia

    Published 2024
“…Coral microatolls form in the intertidal zone as coral colonies whose upward growth is limited to low water levels making it a useful proxy for understanding relative sea level (RSL) changes; a combination of both sea-level and land-level changes. …”

The discovery of a conjugate system of faults in the Wharton Basin intraplate deformation zone by Singh, Satish Chandra, Hananto, Nugroho, Qin, Yanfang, Leclerc, Frederique, Avianto, Praditya, Tapponnier, Paul E., Carton, Helene, Wei, Shengji, Nugroho, Adam B., Gemilang, Wishnu A., Sieh, Kerry, Barbot, Sylvain

    Published 2017
“…Also, we have imaged left-lateral strike-slip faults along reactivated N7°E-oriented oceanic fracture zones. The shear zones and the reactivated fracture zones form a conjugate system of faults, which accommodate present-day intraplate deformation in the Wharton Basin.…”

A Multi-satellite Perspective on “Hot Tower” Characteristics in the Equatorial Trough Zone by Pilewskie, J, Stephens, G, Takahashi, H, L’Ecuyer, T

    Published 2024
“…The focus of this paper is to update this estimate using modern satellite observations, compare hot tower frequency and intensity characteristics to all deep convective cores that reach the upper troposphere, and document hot tower spatiotemporal variability in relation to precipitation and high cloud properties within the tropical trough zone (between 13 °S and 19 °N). Cloud vertical profiles from CloudSat and CALIPSO measurements supply convective core diameters and proxies for intensity and convective activity, and these proxies are augmented with brightness temperature data from geostationary satellite observations, precipitation information from IMERG, and cloud radiative properties from CERES. …”

Heavy metals distribution in mangrove leaves in various sudanese coastal zones at the red sea by Mohammad Khalil, Rabha Khalil, Solangi, Kashif Ali, Alhassan, Abdullahi Bala, Khan, Waseem Razzaq, Aljahdali, Mohammed Othman

    Published 2024
“…The results demonstrate that the maximum calcium (Ca)and iron (Fe) concentrations in mangrove leaves were 35.9 mg/kg and 4.10 mg/kg recorded at RK and AM, respectively, in the south region of the Red Sea. …”

The role of Holocene relative sea-level change in preserving records of subduction zone earthquakes by Dura, Tina, Engelhart, Simon E., Vacchi, Matteo, Horton, Benjamin Peter, Kopp, Robert E., Peltier, William Richard, Bradley, Sarah

    Published 2021
“…These regional variations in Holocene RSL influence the preservation of coastal wetland stratigraphic records of prehistoric earthquakes along subduction zone coasts. The length and completeness of prehistoric earthquake records is intrinsically linked to the accommodation space provided by gradually rising (<3 mm/year) Holocene RSL. …”

Characterizing the spectrum of slip behavior at the Sumatran subduction zone with long-term geodetic records by Tsang, Louisa Lok Hang

    Published 2016
“…This event is the longest lasting slow slip event reported at any subduction zone around the world, and is the first to be discovered in Sumatra. …”

The use of paleomagnetic analysis to assess nonbrittle deformation within the San Andreas fault zone by Sieh, Kerry, Nagy, Elizabeth A.

    Published 2012
“…Additional studies are needed, preferably not within active fault zones, to better define sources of error for this relatively new soft-sediment sampling technique and to determine its resolution limits for discerning small changes in paleomagnetic vector directions.…”

Behind the Two-Wheeled Vehicle: Understanding Riders' Behaviour in School Zones (S/O: 13058) by Abdul Hanan, Suhaila, Zainuddin, Nizamuddin, King, Mark, Lewis, Ioni

    Published 2016
“…In relation to school zones, in spite all of the countermeasures that have been implemented in Malaysia (e.g., speed limit signage and school zones road marking), studies show that many road user either car drivers or motorcycle riders (i.e., after this session will be address as motorcyclists) do not comply with the school zones speed limit (SZSL). …”

Barium aluminate improved iron ore for the chemical looping combustion of syngas by Wang, Haiming, Dou, Xiaomin, Veksha, Andrei, Liu, Wen, Giannis, Apostolos, Ge, Liya, Lim, Teik-Thye, Lisak, Grzegorz

    Published 2022
“…In this study, we investigated the CLC of simulated MSW-derived syngas using iron ore (IO)-based oxygen carriers (OCs). To enhance the redox activity of the IO, barium aluminate (BaAl2O4) was used for the first time as a promoter of the OC. …”
