Counter-checking uncertainty calculations in Bayesian operational modal analysis with EM techniques
Published 2024“…Bayesian operational modal analysis makes inference about the modal properties (e.g., natural frequency, damping ratio) of a structure using ‘output-only’ ambient vibration data. …”

Experimental investigation on the effect of masked multiple passes abrasive waterjet machining surface texturing on coefficient of friction
Published 2025“…According to the findings, there is less friction in craters with greater densities because there are more craters in the contact zone, which improves the trapping of debris particles and reduces friction, when the crater density rises from 4% to 18%, there is a greater chance of worn debris becoming trapped, which reduces friction. …”

Laun's rule for predicting the first normal stress coefficient in complex fluids: A comprehensive investigation using fractional calculus
Published 2024“…We utilize the fractional Maxwell liquid model to describe the linear relaxation dynamics compactly and accurately and incorporate material nonlinearities using a generalized damping function of Soskey–Winter form. We evaluate this integral representation of the first normal stress coefficient numerically and compare the predictions with Laun's empirical expression. …”

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS_2) as a broadband saturable absorber for ultra-fast photonics
Published 2014“…To explore its potential applications in ultrafast photonics, we fabricated a passive mode locker for ytterbium-doped fibre laser by depositing few-layered MoS2 onto the end facet of optical fiber by means of an optical trapping approach. Our laser experiment shows that few-layer MoS2-based mode locker allows for the generation of stable mode-locked laser pulse, centered at 1054.3 nm, with a 3-dB spectral bandwidth of 2.7 nm and a pulse duration of 800 ps. …”

Effect of selective particle dispersion on impact performance of composite laminates
Published 2013“…Parameters which improved included peak force by 17.6%, contact time by 10.0% and damping index by 58.2%. Visual examination presented significant reduction of damage on the composite laminate and scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations, allowed the identification of the deforming CSP particles as the mechanism allowing greater absorption of impact energy and restricting damage propagation. 4-point bending tests conducted indicated a reduction in stiffness with increasing particle density, confirming that the CSP particles have toughened the matrix, allowing more energy to be absorbed elastically. …”
