Membrane distillation : module design and modeling
Published 2012“…It was found that modified membranes presented better hydrophobicity while maintaining similar structural properties and less vulnerability to pore wetting, thus resulting in more sustainable long-term performance. Single fiber tests in combination with heat transfer analysis showed that a critical length Lc existed to assure sufficient driving force along the fiber to maintain a high MD efficiency. …”

A study on X chromosome reactivation using iXist
Published 2017“…Interestingly, Kat8 and Msl2 are involved in Drosophila dosage compensation by up-regulating X-linked gene expression from the single X chromosome in males. Through immuno-RNA FISH, we also show that induced XCI caused Kat8 exclusion from the X chromosome territory. …”

A Coral Reef Algorithm Based on Learning Automata for the Coverage Control Problem of Heterogeneous Directional Sensor Networks
Published 2016“…To solve this multi-objective problem, we introduce a learning automata-based coral reef algorithm for adaptive parameter selection and use a novel Tchebycheff decomposition method to decompose the multi-objective problem into a single-objective problem. Simulation results show the consistent superiority of the proposed algorithm over alternative approaches.…”

Modulation of spin-orbit torque efficiency by thickness control of heavy metal layers in Co/Pt multilayers
Published 2017“…The proposed Co/Pt thin film double stack gives property enhancement on thermal stability and perpendicular magnetization anisotropy strength over the single stack Pt/Co/Ta. In the proposed Co/Pt double stack we observed that increasing the Ta capping thickness to three times enhances the SHA in similar order, consistent with larger spin injection efficiency. …”

Symmetry breaking of graphene monolayers by molecular decoration
Published 2011“…Aromatic molecules can effectively exfoliate graphite into graphene monolayers, and the resulting graphene monolayers sandwiched by the aromatic molecules exhibit a pronounced Raman G-band splitting, similar to that observed in single-walled carbon nanotubes. Raman measurements and calculations based on the force-constant model demonstrate that the absorbed aromatic molecules are responsible for the G-band splitting by removing the energy degeneracy of in-plane longitudinal and transverse optical phonons at the Γ point.…”
