The role of smartphone applications as English learning tool among Chinese university students
Published 2021“…Fragmented learning time and informal learn ing place were widely accepted by students due to the flexib ility and portability of smartphone apps, which create more learning opportunities for them and in turn lengthens their learning time. Rich, authentic, high -quality, and up- to-date listening materials, English proficiency tests, and the function of recommendation offered by smartphone apps all provide a great convenience for students. …”

A longitudinal study of the tax capacity and tax effort of the Malaysian state government
Published 2012“…The main objective of this paper is to measure the effort and capacity of the state governments in Peninsular Malaysia for their land tax for the period of 2000-2008 using the Representative Revenue System (RRS).Our findings show that state governments differ significantly in term of their capacity and their effort. The findings of this study also show that there is little movement in the ranking of the state governments with respect to the level of their tax effort. This implies that state governments especially the ones found to be exerting below average tax effort have shown little initiative to change their effort. This in turn may be due to the way the whole tax system is managed…”

Missing links in The China Model
Published 2020“…For example, when the Chinese government was [End Page 568] using harmony as a leading motif for policies, while some people would say anything in praise of harmony in order to please the government, there were also many who chose to turn their back on topics related to harmony in order to avoid being perceived as dancing to the music of the government.…”

Meeting of minds: narratives as a tool to reduce prejudice toward stigmatized group members
Published 2022“…Findings indicate that first-person narratives are more effective than third-person narratives in inducing social presence of the stigmatized outgroup character; photos, unexpectedly, did not have such an effect. Social presence, in turn, plays a key role in facilitating positive intergroup outcomes from reading online narrative texts. …”

Towards precision dosing of nanoparticles in mammalian cells
Published 2022“…Current in vitro assays of nanotoxicity studies rely on suspension-based delivery of ENMs into cells, which are in turn internalised by endocytosis. However, transformations of ENMs in suspension affect mass transport of particles from media to the cells, failure to characterise accurate dosages of NPs delivered into cells result in some of the disparity between in vitro and in vivo toxicity assays. …”

Published 2010“…As the voltage regulator controller is used to maintain the generated voltage at its required range, it must be able to measure the voltage at the generator terminal, thus this project will look into the way of measuring the voltage and design of the control circuit used to control the thyristor to turn on and off. Simulation of the voltage regulator controller will be performed to obtain the main structure of the controller circuit, after which the controller is then constructed into hardware. …”
