Hot and round: How temperature and shape impact the multisensory appreciation of cornmeal
Published 2024“…In a between-participants experimental design conducted in an ecologically-valid restaurant setting, we investigated the appreciation of differently-shaped pieces of cornmeal (rounded vs. rectangular) for different serving temperatures (room-temperature vs. hot presentation). 282 participants (165 female, mean age of 37 years, SD = 11 years, age range 17–62 years) tasted the cornmeal and evaluated it with respect to several sensorial qualities (i.e., temperature, wetness, texture, elasticity, and liking) and indicated the perceived dominant taste from amongst the five basic tastes. …”

Investigation of logarithmic signatures for feature extraction and application to marine engine fault diagnosis
Published 2024“…The results demonstrate that the approach involving the use of eight elementary logS, Principal Components Analysis (PCA), standardisation and an ANN regression model comprising two hidden layers with ten neurons each is the most effective, as it exhibits the lowest values on both the root mean square and the standard error 95% confidence interval. …”

‘It's the little things that count’: healthcare professionals’ views on delivering dignified care: a qualitative study
Published 2016“…
Background
Although ‘care’ and dignity in care are seen as central to the delivery of good care by patients, families and professionals, we still lack a clear understanding of what these, often contested and elusive concepts, mean in the practice setting, particularly from the perspective of healthcare professionals. …”
