A probabilistic particle-control approximation of chance-constrained stochastic predictive control
Published 2011“…By expressing these particles in terms of the control variables, we are able to approximate the original stochastic control problem as a deterministic one; furthermore, the approximation becomes exact as the number of particles tends to infinity. This method applies to arbitrary noise distributions, and for systems with linear or jump Markov linear dynamics, we show that the approximate problem can be solved using efficient mixed-integer linear-programming techniques. …”

Effect of the shapes of foundation soil on the seismic response of dikes
Published 2015“…This was due to the refraction and reflection of internal SH waves converging towards the center of the basin, resulting in longer duration of shaking and increase in acceleration amplitudes, as well as generated surface Rayleigh waves from basin edge. However, the PGA tends to decrease with the increase of basin width, given a fixed bedrock slope angle and depth. …”

BEM-PSP for single-carrier and SC-FDMA communication over a doubly selective fading channel
Published 2023“…The resultant BEM-PSP receiver significantly improves the channel estimation mean square error (MSE) and the bit error rates (BER) performance in fast fading multi-path channel, thanks to the channel tracking capability embedded within its Viterbi equalizer. …”

Applications of deep learning for physical layer of wireless communication systems
Published 2024“…The 1D-TRNet receiver outperforms traditional OFDM receivers and state-of-the-art generalized approximate message passing (GAMP) receivers in terms of bit-error rate (BER) performance. The third research work proposes a deep learning-based 5G receiver, named communication transformer network (Comm-Trans Net), which is designed to be robust for different sub-types of TDL channels. …”

Role of Water Solvation on the Key Intermediates Catalyzing Oxygen Evolution on RuO2
Published 2024“…This study provides further mechanistic insights on the role of the oxide surface chemistry in the OER mechanism and highlights the importance of explicitly treating the catalyst/water interfaces including dynamical aspects to assess the stability and the interconversion mechanism of key surface species, since the adoption of static solvation approaches tends to overestimate the energetic difference between −OOH and −OO–H reaction intermediates.…”

Distributed execution of workflow
Published 2009“…The main reasons which led us to this selection are: (i) there is few existing work on partitioning workflow, specially as a means of accelerating workflow execution; (ii) several systems have been developed using three main enactment models (i.e., centralized, hierarchical, and distributed models), but most of them focus on centralized execution control while the existing hierarchical and distributed models still have problems such as high overhead in communication amongst the distributed parties; and (iii) data movement mechanisms are divided into: centralized, mediated, and peer-to-peer models. …”
