Piezoelectric single crystal based one-dimensional phased array for breast tissue imaging
Published 2024“…In this thesis, I propose a conformable ultrasound breast patch (cUSBr-Patch) consisting of a one-dimensional (1D) phased array and a nature-inspired patch design, which offers large-area, deep tissue scanning and multi-angle, repeatable breast imaging while avoiding the drawbacks of conventional ultrasound imaging technologies. I used a Yb/Bi-doped PIN-PMN-PT single crystal as the active element due to its superior piezoelectric properties (d33 = 2,800 pC/N, εr = 7,000, k33 = 0.93). …”

Pulsed-laser-ablated gold-nanoparticles saturable absorber for mode-locked erbium-doped fiber lasers
Published 2022“…The resulting nanocomposite was deposited on the tapered region of a microfiber with a spin-coating method. The proposed Au-NPs SA recorded a modulation depth of 0.4% and low saturation intensity of 0.1 MW/cm2 leading to stable mode-locking operation in the erbium-doped fiber laser cavity at a low threshold pump power of about 45.6 mW. …”

Nonlinear wave evolution with data-driven breaking
Published 2024“…It determines the properties of a sea state and plays a crucial role in ocean-atmosphere interaction, ocean pollution, and rogue waves. Owing to its turbulent nature, wave breaking remains too computationally demanding to solve using direct numerical simulations except in simple, short-duration circumstances. …”

Unusual Temperature Dependence of Water Sorption in Semicrystalline Hydrogels
Published 2024“…In particular, capturing moisture at elevated temperatures is highly desirable to prevent dehydration and to enlarge the tunability of water uptake. However, owing to the thermodynamic limit of conventional materials, sorbents inevitably tend to capture less water vapor at higher temperatures, impeding their broad applications. …”

In vitro assessment of combined Doppler ultrasound and CFD modeling in arterial blood flow quantification
Published 2014“…However, relatively large deviation of the blood flow measurement from the actual value is expected, owing to a number of contributing factors. The research work expounded here attempts to ameliorate the accuracy of the blood flow output quantification by combining the Doppler measurement with the computational fluid dynamics modeling based on Navier–Stokes equation. …”
