The impact of natural climate variability on the global distribution of Aedes aegypti: a mathematical modelling study
Published 2024“…
Methods
In this mathematical modelling study, we developed an ecological model in which Ae aegypti population dynamics depend on climate variables (temperature and rainfall). We used 100 projections of future climate from the Community Earth System Model, a comprehensive climate model that simulates natural climate variability as well as anthropogenic climate change, in combination with our ecological model to generate a range of equally plausible scenarios describing the global distribution of suitable conditions for Ae aegypti up to 2100. …”

Green hydrogen derived from municipal wastewater via bioconversion by attached microalgae onto various sizes of polyurethane foam cubes
Published 2023“…Polyurethane foam cubes of four different sizes, namely, 0.5, 0.75, 1 and 2 cm (cubes’ edge lengths), were initially used to immobilize microalgae for 7 days. They were then introduced into municipal wastewater medium to provide alimentation for attached microalgae in performing dark fermentation. …”

SenseMate: An Accessible and Beginner-Friendly Human-AI Platform for Qualitative Data Analysis
Published 2024“…Regarding the effectiveness of SenseMate’s design, participants reported that the platform was generally easy to use. In summary, Sensemate is (1) built for beginner sensemakers without a technical background, a user group that prior work doesn’t focus on, (2) implements rationale extraction models to recommend themes and generate explanations, which has advantages over large language models in terms of user privacy and control, and (3) contains original and intuitive features created from user feedback that can be applied to future QDA systems.…”

Time-series metagenomics reveals changing protistan ecology of a temperate dimictic lake
Published 2024“…The metagenomic data also reveal the presence of the spiny water flea and the zebra mussel, a second invasive species to Lake Mendota, prior to their visual identification during routine monitoring. Furthermore, we use species co-occurrence and co-abundance analysis to connect the protistan community with bacterial taxa. …”
