Partially collaborative storage codes for distributed storage systems
Published 2015“…This setting has been generalized independently in [4, 5] to allow the simultaneous repair of several nodes failures thanks to node collaboration during the repair process, resulting in a better trade-off in terms of repair communication cost versus storage overhead than in the case of one failure repair at a time. The main contribution of this thesis is to introduce a family of storage codes that generalizes the framework of collaborative repairs, which subsumes the previously known constructions with either no collaboration (one failure at a time) or full collaboration (several failures at a time, involving all repair nodes in the collaboration as proposed in [4,5]). …”

Research of modeling and optimization approaches for hybrid ejector-based air conditioning cycle
Published 2017“…The model-based centralized optimization for hybrid system is developed based on evolutionary operators integrated particle swarm optimization method, which aims at minimizing the total energy consumption under demanded cooling capacities, with regard of components energy consumption models and corresponding physical constraints, achieving the precise estimation of the operating conditions as well as the global optimal set point. The main contribution of this thesis is to propose two systematic approaches in optimizing the hybrid refrigeration cycle. …”

Towards whom should indoor environmental quality control be sympathetic : asthmatics or non-asthmatics?
Published 2014“…Data for subjects' work performances, perceptual responses, and salivary α-amylase concentration at initial and after 3-h exposures were reported in this paper. The main findings suggest that: (i) temperature settings should be sympathetic towards asthmatic subjects because of their higher sensitivity to temperatures at the lower spectrum of thermal comfort conditions; (ii) IAQ settings should be sympathetic towards non-asthmatic subjects because of their higher sensitivity to perceived air quality acceptability in the same temperature range. …”

Motor adaptation with passive machines: A first study on the effect of real and virtual stiffness
Published 2015“…In particular, we tested 20 healthy subjects under two different real stiffness conditions (Stiff Channel vs Compliant Channel) and two different virtual conditions (Viscous vs Springy). Our main finding is that compliance of the channel favours a better adaptation featured with less lateral errors and longer retention of the after-effect. …”

Early Vocal Development in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Rett Syndrome, and Fragile X Syndrome: Insights from Studies Using Retrospective Video Analysis
Published 2018“…These studies were then categorised according to whether children were later diagnosed with ASD (13 studies), RTT (8 studies), or FXS (2 studies) and then described in terms of (a) participant characteristics, (b) control group characteristics, (c) video footage, (d) behaviours analysed, and (e) main findings. This overview supports the use of RVA in analysing the early development of vocalisations in children later diagnosed with ASD, RTT, or FXS and provides an in-depth analysis of vocalisation presentation, complex vocalisation production, and the rate and/or frequency of vocalisation production across the three disorders. …”

Green development performance of water resources and its economic-related determinants
Published 2019“…To validate the applicability and suitability of the proposed methodology, we collected the panel data about water resources across 30 provinces in China from 2005 to 2015 for an empirical study. The main findings of this study are as follows: i) the level of water utilization is a critical factor for the government to decide whether to increase the GTFPWR via foreign direct investment and trade; ii) the amount of wastewater should be effectively reduced to mitigate the conflicts between urbanization and the GTFPWR growth; iii) inland provinces, particularly Shanxi, Hainan and Yunnan, need to improve water technologies and management to increase their low-GTFPWR-growth rates. …”
