Response of geostationary communications satellite solid-state power amplifiers to high-energy electron fluence
Published 2017“…Building on the work of Lohmeyer and Cahoy (2013), we find that anomalies occur at a rate higher than just by chance when the >2 MeV electron fluence accumulated over 14 and 21 days is elevated. …”

Analysis on Sieve of Eratosthenes algorithm and algorithms for solving the discrete logarithm problem
Published 2023“…The DLP is defined as: given a group Fp, a generator g of the group and an element k of p, find the discrete logarithm to the base g of k in the group p. …”

Evaluating geospatial accuracy for equity analyses: a case study of the U.S. National Bridge Inventory
Published 2023“…Phase 2 focuses on potential ways to correct locational mismatches. We find that a 30.5 m (100 ft) buffer and Thiessen polygons provide the greatest improvements in matching accuracy in the NBI record over point coordinates. …”

Fluid-fluid displacement in porous-media microfluidics
Published 2024“…We first develop a phase-field model to simulate two-phase flow with moving contact lines in the partial wetting regime. We construct a self-consistent formulation of fluid-solid surface energy which allows prescribing arbitrary static contact angles. …”

Structural and biochemical mechanisms of NLRP1 inhibition by DPP9
Published 2022“…Activation of the NLR protein NLRP1 requires autocleavage within its function-to-find domain (FIIND)1-7. In resting cells, the dipeptidyl peptidases DPP8 and DPP9 interact with the FIIND of NLRP1 and suppress spontaneous NLRP1 activation8,9; however, the mechanisms through which this occurs remain unknown. …”

MCMC inversion of the transient and steady-state creep flow law parameters of dunite under dry and wet conditions
Published 2022“…We determine the flow law parameters for dunites using a Markov chain Monte Carlo method. We find the activation energy 430 ± 20 and 250 ± 10 kJ/mol for dry and wet conditions, respectively, and the stress exponent 2.0 ± 0.1 for both the dry and wet cases for transient creep, consistently lower than those of steady-state creep, suggesting a separate physical mechanism. …”

Free-electron crystals for enhanced X-ray radiation
Published 2024“…Furthermore, we show how to shape the bremsstrahlung X-ray emission pattern into arbitrary angular emission profiles for purposes such as unidirectionality and multi-directionality. Importantly, we find that these enhancements and shaped emission profiles cannot be attributed solely to the spatial overlap between the electron probability distribution and the atomic centers, as predicted by the paraxial and non-recoil theory for free electron light emission. …”

Coexistence of harmony and freedom in the Zhuangzi
Published 2024“…Zhuangzian harmony can be described as “collaborative individuals harmonize by responding to others to achieve flourishing,” while Zhuangzian freedom is defined as “an individual is free with ming (命) to pursue one’s intention.” Finally, this thesis elucidates how the tensions between harmony and freedom in Zhuangzi are resolved and how harmony and freedom can mutually enhance each other.…”
