Numerical modeling of the impacts of high albedo materials on building energy savings by R.E.W.M.R.K Nisansala Ratnadiwakara

    Published 2013
“…The impact of increasing solar reflectance from 0.4 to 0.8 for non insulated reinforced concrete is equivalent to the impact achieved by including 20~22 mm of insulation material with 0.03 W/mK thermal conductivity and it was further verified, increasing solar reflectance in both non-insulated and insulated roofs are more effective in reducing conduction heat gain compared to the double skin roof. The conduction heat gain contribution to the annual energy consumption is reduced in the range of 4 - 4.5 kWh/m2 due to the impact of increasing solar reflectance from 0.4 to 0.8 in a lower floor which has no effect from roof conduction. …”

Ultrasound-compatible 3D-printed Franz diffusion system for sonophoresis with microbubbles by Chen, Xin, De Grandi, Davide, Zhu, Yonglian, Lutheryn, Gareth, Lane, Majella E., Sil dos Santos, Bruno, Carugo, Dario

    Published 2024
“…Sonophoresis is a topical drug delivery approach that utilises ultrasound as a physical stimulus to enhance permeation of active pharmaceutical ingredients through the skin. Only limited research has however been conducted to evaluate the potential of ultrasound-responsive drug carriers, such as gas microbubbles, in sonophoresis. …”

Gender differences in perceptions of psoriatic arthritis disease impact, management, and physician interactions: results from a global patient survey by Eder, L, Richette, P, Coates, LC, Azevedo, VF, Cappelleri, JC, Johnson, EP, Hoang, M, Moser, J, Kessouri, M

    Published 2024
“…Varying perceptions of disease severity between males and females were indicated by differences in symptoms leading to a diagnosis of PsA, and in symptoms reported despite treatment; more females than males reported joint tenderness, skin patches/plaques, and enthesitis. More females than males reported a major/moderate impact of PsA on their physical activity and emotional/mental well-being. …”

Dissecting the structure-compaction-performance relationship of thin-film composite polyamide membranes with different structure features by Zhao, Yali, Lai, Gwo Sung, Chong, Jeng Yi, Wang, Rong

    Published 2022
“…On the other hand, the TFC membrane with a PA layer of low protuberances formed atop a loose substrate showed a greater decrease (∼18.5%) in water permeability. The densified skin layer and collapsed macro-voids within the loose substrate resulted in a ∼40% decrease in the overall height of the PA layer and a 65% decline in substrate surface porosity, respectively, which are identified as the reasons for the reducing water permeability. …”

Fabrication of organic solvent nanofiltration membranes with graphene oxide - enhanced covalent organic framework via interfacial polymerization by Oor, Jia Zheng, Ong, Chi Siang, Tan, Yong Zen, Chew, Jia Wei

    Published 2023
“…Unfortunately, the common thin film composite (TFC) - based organic solvent nanofiltration membranes often give low solvent permeance due to the dense skin layer atop the substrate. To address this, we fabricated a covalent organic framework (COF) - incorporated TFC membrane through the in-situ formation of benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxaldehyde (TFB) and graphene oxide (GO) in p-Cymene, a less toxic solvent, with p-Phenylenediamine (PPD) in aqueous phase via interfacial polymerization. …”
